Possible Hardware Requirements For The Standalone

A lot of people are wondering what the hardware requirements for the DayZ standalone will be.  At this point, its still anyone’s guess, Rocket has not commented on the issue however we can take a look at the DayZ mod requirements and speculate from there.  These have been taken from the official DayZ website.

DayZ Requirements

OS: Windows XP or Windows Vista

Processor: Intel Core 2.4 GHz or AMD Dual-Core Athlon 2.5 GHz

Memory: 1GB

Graphics: Nvidia Geforce 8600GT or ATI Radeon 3650 or faster with Shader Model 3 and 512 MB VRAM

DirectX®: DirectX 9.0c

Hard Drive: 10 GB free space
Recommended:
OS: Windows 7

Processor: Intel Core i5 or AMD Athlon Phenom X4 or faster

Memory: 2GB

Graphics: Nvidia Geforce GTX 260 or ATI Radeon HD 5770 or faster with Shader Model 3 and 896 MB VRAM

From here we can see that the recommended is a 4-core processor with videos cards that are around 3 years old.  At first, the DayZ mod had terrible fps, but in the last 5 or so updates, fps has improved dramatically.  Most people who have bought decent computers in the past 3 years can at least run the game, and DayZ runs on the Arma 2 version.  Rocket has stated that the Standalone will run on the “Arma 2.5” engine.  So it’s probably safe to say that it will a bit more graphically intensive and more taxing on the processor.  From my experiences, video games are much more taxing on the GPU than the CPU.

So my recommended minimum requirements will be the same as the max requirements for the DayZ Mod, and maximum requirements will be a more recent GPU such as a Radeon 6XXX or Nvidia 6XX, and possibly a ram upgrade to 4GB or more.
