Imagine your first time loading up the DayZ Standalone and as you login and create your somewhat custom DayZ character you have the option to pick a class. These classes would have minor traits and abilities to make them worth while, but would also aid survivors in more willing cooperation. I see it adding a very unique feature which could be more inviting to players in the MMO genre.
ElderGame.com gives a quick overview of what MMO players think about class structure and skills. http://www.eldergame.com/2011/01/classes-vs-open-skill-systems/
In real life before the zombie outbreak all survivors at one time were skilled tradesmen so why should they forget everything they learned in their former life?. When your car broke down you had a mechanic fix it. If you were sick you would go to a doctor or see a nurse. When you were hungry and you lived in the country you shot wild game to feed your family. Military men defend our nations everywhere throughout the world and their skills and training are never forgotten. DayZ Character traits would add a sense of realism to the game.
I would love any feedback or ideas about possible DayZ Character classes or special abilities. This community is what helped build DayZ so we should have a voice in what happens in the process of the Standalone release. I think these changes would not only help survivor cooperation, but it would be another cool way for teams to be well fitted for the zombie apocalypse.
The Standalone will have weapon degrading in it, but why not clothing, shoes, or body? These questions will be answered by me in my next blog which explains how degrading in general works on weaponry and even the body of a DayZSurvivor.
